ARVO Travel Grant Awarded to Dr. Ponarulselvam Sekar of SFB 1607 Project C04

We are pleased to share that Dr. Ponarulselvam (Arul) Sekar, a postdoctoral researcher in subproject C04 of SFB 1607, has been awarded a prestigious travel grant by the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). The grant supports his paper presentation and participation in the ARVO 2025 Annual Meeting which took place from May 4–8 in Salt Lake City, Utah (USA).

The ARVO Annual Meeting is one of the world’s largest and most respected gatherings for eye and vision researchers. It provides a vibrant platform for scientists from across the globe to present groundbreaking findings, engage in interdisciplinary dialogue, and foster collaborations that advance the field of ophthalmology.

Travel grants from ARVO are awarded to early-career researchers with outstanding abstracts who demonstrate high potential in vision research. These grants help make international scientific exchange more accessible by covering part of the travel and attendance costs.

Dr. Sekar’s research in Project C04 focuses on investigating immunomodulatory therapies for conjunctival melanoma, with a particular emphasis on elucidating the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the tumor’s immunological landscape. By using cutting-edge in vivo and in vitro models, his work aims to identify potential molecular targets for therapeutic intervention.
