Dr. Leonie Menghesha receives 2nd place in TROPHY Award at ARVO 2025

Dr. Leonie Menghesha, clinician scientist from SFB 1607, was awarded second place in the 12th edition of the international TROPHY Award during the ARVO 2025 conference in Salt Lake City.

The TROPHY Award, organized by Laboratoires Théa and presided by Professor Chryssa Terzidou this year, honors exceptional clinical cases in the field of eye pathologies with a focus on translational relevance.

Dr. Menghesha was recognized for her case entitled “Conquering Challenges in Therapy-Resistant Mucocutaneous HSV-1 Infection with Severe Herpetic Keratitis and Ocular Graft-versus-Host Disease”.

The award ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 6th at the Salt Lake City Marriott City Center. Dr. Menghesha’s case was selected among international finalists and underscores the high standard of translational research within SFB 1607.
