SFB 1607 Hosts First PI Meeting of 2025 at CECAD

On June 5, SFB 1607 held its first PI Meeting of the year at the CECAD Research Center, led by SFB spokesperson Prof. Dr. Claus Cursiefen. These biannual meetings are a vital part of our collaborative structure, fostering dialogue and coordination around our mission: preventing age-related blinding eye diseases.

This year’s meeting focused on two core topics: research data management and the advancement of our young principal investigators. Notably, all current young PIs in SFB 1607 are women – a reflection of our sustained commitment to gender equity in science.

In a supportive face-to-face setting, the young PIs had the opportunity to receive guidance and feedback from senior investigators. These direct exchanges are a hallmark of SFB 1607 and ensure that early-career researchers are empowered with both scientific and leadership support.

We are grateful for a highly productive and collegial meeting and look forward to continuing this momentum at our next PI gathering in fall 2025.
